  • How First Niagara Protects You

  • We are committed to protecting the personally identifiable financial information that you provide us throughout the course of your relationship with First Niagara. To further protect the security and privacy of your information, First Niagara has implemented various administrative, technical and physical safeguards to assist with these efforts. Here are some examples of what we do:

    • To protect your information from unauthorized access and use, we have security measures in place that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings. We partner with third parties and use protocols, tools and auditing to confirm your identity, help keep transactions secure and enhance your online experience. For more information, see Mobile and Online Security.
    • First Niagara is implementing chip-and-PIN technology on First Niagara issued credit and debit cards for an added layer of anti-fraud protection. The embedded microchip technology on the physical card in combination with a 4-digit PIN, which may be required to authorize in-person purchase transactions, provides a strong transaction security feature to the card. For more information, see the chip-and-PIN FAQs
    • First Niagara has fraud detection systems in place that are designed to monitor activity to identify unusual patterns that help detect potential fraud.
    • Personal information is only shared in accordance with our Privacy Notice.
    • For information regarding deposit account rules and regulations, see our Retail Account Disclosure policies.
    • First Niagara will never contact you and request your electronic banking credentials or any other form of personally identifiable information (i.e., Bank card number, account number, Social Security number, PIN or password) through email or text. If you encounter a suspicious email or text message asking you to provide your authentication credentials, do not supply the information and immediately call us at 1-800-421-0004.
