With the fury of Hurricane Sandy behind us, but the long road to recovery ahead for many of our customers, we are committed to helping our communities rebuild.

    Donations

To address the short-term needs of those in immediate crisis, we are working with the Red Cross to collect donations. Customers can drop off donations for the Red Cross at any First Niagara Branch.

The funds collected will be used to provide food, shelter, and basic services to those affected by the storm in New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. To kick off this donation drive, First Niagara has donated $112,000 to the Red Cross fund and eight regional food banks.

If you can’t make it in to a branch, you can donate immediately at RedCross.org.

    Hardship Deferrals

Our team will work with impacted customers on Loan Payment Hardship Deferrals or payment amendment options for installment loans, lines of credit, and mortgage products through the end of 2012. If you are interested in exploring this option please call 1-800-421-0004 or your local First Niagara branch.

    Storm Relief Fee Refund

To our customers in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Eastern New York, and Eastern Pennsylvania whose lives were disrupted by the storm, we will provide refunds for the following fees incurred between October 29 and October 31.

    First Niagara will refund:

    • Late fees incurred on any First Niagara consumer loan or line of credit; including home equities, credit cards, and mortgages
    • Overdraft protection transfer fee, overdraft fee or insufficient funds fee
    • Fees charged by First Niagara to our customers who use a non-First Niagara ATM

If you incurred one of these fees, we will automatically rebate your account. You will see these refund transactions listed within Online Banking and on your monthly statement as "Storm Relief Refund." To request a relief refund outside of this time frame, please call our Customer Contact Center.

    YouFirst Neighbor Loans

As some of our hardest hit neighbors start the process of rebuilding, we are also offering our YouFirst Neighbor loan program in affected areas. This low-interest rate, expedited loan program will be available to our customers through December 31.
