    Voluntary Benefits

    Benefit Description
    Medical insurance Choose from two (2) Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans administered by BlueCross BlueShield of WNY: PPO and a Consumer-Driven Health Plan (CDHP) – each with different deductibles and co-insurance rates.
    Dental insurance Administered by Delta Dental and consists of two (2) PPO options that provide for preventive, basic and major services.
    Vision insurance VSP administers this plan that provides for annual exams, an allowance for frames and lenses and much more.
    Health savings account (HSA) Participants in the CDHP medical plan option who satisfy IRS requirements will be eligible to make contributions to an HSA. First Niagara will make a contribution of $500 per single coverage or $1,000 per employee +1 or family coverage.
    Flexible spending account (FSA) Four (4) types of FSAs are available to use pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible medical and dependent care expenses, parking fees and mass transit fares.
    Voluntary life insurance Employees choose to contribute up to four (4) times their annual base salary (rounded up to the nearest $1,000).
    Spouse life insurance Spouses and domestic partners coverage is available from $25,000 to $200,000, annually.
    Child life insurance Coverage for your child(ren) and the child(ren) of domestic partners for $5,000 or $10,000, annually.
    Voluntary accidental death & dismemberment insurance (AD&D) Coverage options for up to four (4) times their annual salary (rounded up to the nearest $1,000) for team members and families, including domestic partners and children of domestic partners.
    Voluntary long-term disability insurance (LTD) Full-time team members may elect additional long-term disability coverage that, combined with basic LTD, will provide a benefit of the lesser of 66% or 2/3 base monthly salary or $15,000 per month.
    Critical Illness Insurance Critical Illness Insurance through MetLife provides a lump sum benefit for three specific categories of critical illnesses, helping to offset expenses not reimbursed by other types of insurance.
    Group Legal Group Legal offers legal services, such as will preparation, estate planning, and court appearances, for eligible team members and their dependents through a nationwide network of attorneys.

    Benefits Paid by First Niagara

    Benefit Description
    Basic life insurance Eligible team members receive one (1) times their annual salary (rounded up to the nearest $1,000).
    Basic accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) Eligible team members receive one (1) times their annual salary (rounded up to the nearest $1,000).
    Short-term disability (STD) Benefits from $170 per week up to 100% of their weekly salary based on employment status and years of service completed at time of disability.
    Basic long-term disability (LTD) LTD benefits of 50% of an employee’s monthly salary (benefit maximum of $4,200 per month) are provided to full-time team members.
    Business travel accident insurance First Niagara provides travel insurance to all team members traveling on First Niagara business.
    Life assistance program (LAP) LAP is provided to all team members to assist with life events (e.g., financial, family matters, etc.).

    401(k) Plan

    • First Niagara matches 100% on the first 4% of a team member’s contributions and 50% on the next 2% contributed.
    • Immediately 100% vested in the First Niagara match plan. Team members are always 100% vested in their contributions.
    • Team members are eligible to participate if they are 21 years of age and have completed three (3) months of employment with First Niagara.
    • In 2015, team members can contribute up to $18,000 per year, plus an additional $6,000 catch-up contribution if they are age 50 or older.
    • The First Niagara 401(k) plan accepts rollovers from other qualified plans (check with your former employer for available rollover options).

    Work/Life Benefits

    Benefit Description
    Paid time off (PTO) Eligible team members are provided with PTO based on years of service and salary grade.
    Leaves of absence Available leaves of absence for eligible team members include: STD, LTD, family medical leave (federal and state – CT & MA) and military.
    Adoption assistance Generous financial assistance is available for both domestic and foreign adoptions.
    Educational assistance Designed to support full-time employees who wish to further their education in undergraduate or graduate degree programs at accredited colleges and universities as well as those who are seeking a certificate.
    Learning Center The Online Learning Center can be used to acquire and enhance skills through online, instructor-led and on-the-job training and development, including operational, technical, personal development, management/leadership, product knowledge and sales and service.
    Flexible work arrangements (FWA) Certain positions and locations offer FWA for mobile working or nontraditional schedules to accommodate work/life needs.
    Domestic partnerships We extend benefits to domestic partners, including participation in medical, dental, vision, life insurance and AD&D.
    Employee discounts We offer discounts on First Niagara products and services, as well as discounts on numerous retail and special events (concerts, festivals, etc.).
